Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about meals, transportation, allergies, outdoor time, infant care, supplies, attendance, and centre activities.

No, we do not provide our own transportation. However, we drop off children, making sure they board the bus, and pick up children from yellow bus route stops.
For daycare, we provide breakfast, lunch, and snack. For afterschool programs, we provide an afternoon snack.
In the daycare, breakfast is served from 7:00–9:00 AM. Lunch is served from 11:00–11:30 AM depending on the age group and sometimes on bus arrival in the Kinder room. Afternoon snack is served around 3:00–3:30 PM.
We will substitute meat or vegetables, but for children with gluten, milk, or egg allergies, parents are required to bring in alternatives that fit with our menu.
No. We are a nut-free centre.
We encourage younger children to rest or sleep after lunch. Older children have the option of napping or quiet play.
You provide us with a list of alternate people who may pick up your child. We will check ID, and parents are required to call ahead to advise who will be picking up the child.
We do administer medication, but it must be in the original bottle with the child’s name and dosage. Parents are required to complete a medical form.
We keep a record of allergies in the child’s file, including a Medical Alert Sheet. If your child may need emergency treatment such as an EpiPen, antihistamine, inhaler, or similar medication, we require a doctor’s note and completed medication forms. Parents also need to instruct staff on how to administer the medication.
Yes, weather permitting, children may be outside twice a day.

Normally, we go on field trips during July and August. The afterschool program tends to go on two major field trips and weekly staff-planned outings around the neighbourhood.
Monthly cultural celebrations and special activities will be planned and experienced with children and families.
Every year, we host family functions such as tea and muffin mornings. During summer, we have family BBQs. Events are posted on the parent information board at the front entrance.
We serve 2% milk. If parents want another type of milk served, it must be labelled and brought in.

You may want to bring your child’s favourite soft blanket. You also need to bring diapers, diaper cream if needed, a change of clothing, shoes, and outdoor clothes appropriate for the weather. We supply baby wipes and bedding.
