Sweet Grass offers licensed child care and out-of-school care in warm, responsive classrooms where children can explore, build relationships, and learn through play.

Child Care Program

Each classroom is designed around children’s ages, developmental needs, and opportunities to learn through relationships, creativity, movement, sensory exploration, and play.

Infant Care · Alberta Room

Licensed for 6 children. Infants explore indoors and outdoors through songs, stories, creative and sensory materials, imitation play, and plenty of time for cuddles.

Age Group: 0 to 11 months
Classroom Size: 6 children
Educators: 2 (1:3 ratio)

Baby Care · British Columbia Room

Licensed for 12 children. Children form relationships through communicative practices such as responding to human presence, rhythm, sounds, gestures, and visual language.

Age Group: 12 to 18 months
Classroom Size: 12 children
Educators: 3 (1:4 ratio)

Toddler Care · Manitoba Room

Licensed for 12 children. Toddlers experience open, flexible environments where playful exploration, problem-solving, creativity, music, movement, stories, blocks, dramatic play, and social learning are encouraged.

Age Group: 19 months to 3 years
Classroom Size: 12 children
Educators: 2 (1:6 ratio)

Preschool Care · Nova Scotia Room

Licensed for 16 children. Children learn, express, represent, and interpret their feelings, ideas, and questions through speaking, listening, reading, writing, dancing, singing, drawing, movement, building, and interaction.

Age Group: 3 to 4 years
Classroom Size: 16 children
Educators: 2 (1:8 ratio)

Pre-Kinder Care · Ontario Room

Licensed for 16 children. Educators provide developmentally appropriate experiences based on children’s interests, observing and supporting each child’s unique ways of participating, communicating, and learning through play.

Age Group: 4 to 5 years
Classroom Size: 16 children
Educators: 2 (1:8 ratio)

Out-of-School Care · New Brunswick Room

Our Out-of-School Care room is licensed for 30 children ages 6 to 12. The Reggio Emilia approach, learning through play, also guides the OSC room.

Programming is based on children’s interests. Children are encouraged to make choices, socialize with others, find quiet space to read, craft, build, complete homework, and participate in planned activities on PD days and other non-instructional days.

Age Group: 6 to 7 years · 15 children · 1 educator (1:15 ratio)
Age Group: 7 to 12 years · 15 children · 1 educator (1:15 ratio)

Activities may include

Baking, arts, dance and movement, yoga, music, photography, languages, games, seasonal activities, and more.

Learning through relationships, play, and participation

Across our daycare and out-of-school care programs, educators notice, name, model, and invite each child’s unique ways of communicating and participating in play and learning.
